About Medstat E.M.S
A
registered, privately owned and operated company, Medstat
Emergency Medical Services, was originally a
division of Emergency Medical Consultants of Bowmanville,
Ontario, Canada.
Founded by Douglas E. Bird, the Emergency
Medical Consultants provided quality training and E.M.S.
since 1987. A leader in advanced first aid training, it
continued to provide a variety of programs to the public,
industry, and fire departments.
In
1991, although serving on separate provincial ambulances,
Mr. Bird crossed paths with Donald C. Edwards. They met when both men, qualified as paramedic instructors for the provincial emergency health services, and a unique
friendship developed.
Mr. Edwards left the provincial ambulance system in 1992 and was offered a senior instructor position with the Emergency Medical Consultants. The grassroots E.M.S. Division, was also placed under his supervision.
Over the next two years, the demand for both services, grew rapidly. By October of 1994, Medstat E.M.S. was born into an independent operation, the second of it's kind in Ontario, and The Emergency Medical Consultants Group was formed. As associates, they continue to provide a quality service and a commitment to excellence.
The year 1996 brought additional growth for Medstat when it began their Private Patient Transfer service and merged with it’s sister company in Newmarket. York-Simcoe Emergency Medical Service, founded by William & Barb Nastos long time friends of Mr. Edwards, united into the largest private E.M.S. provider in Ontario, outside of Toronto.
Today, we sport a variety of high profile vehicles, that meet or exceed those standards required to qualify as an ambulance in the province of Ontario, and beyond. Medstat Emergency Medical Attendants are certified Paramedic's. Also available are site Physicians, Licensed Nursing staff, EFR's & PSW's, all with emergency training and experience.
Through many years of ambulance and emergency service by our management staff, we have come to know what works and what doesn't. Attuned to the ever growing field of emergency medical technology, maintain the latest in necessary emergency medical equipment on all our units.
